Community rules

Cosmose is a place for adults who want to meet and talk. These rules say what is expected here, what has no place here, and what happens when the line is crossed. They are part of the terms of use you accept when you enter.

Version 2026-10-07 · Updated on 2026-10-07 · The French version is authoritative.

How to read these rules

Each rule has a number, R1 to R12. When moderation takes a decision about you, the notice you receive quotes that number, so you know exactly what is held against you and can read it again here. The rules apply everywhere on Cosmose: profiles, private conversations, rooms, “Around me” posts, comments and lives.

What is illegal offline is illegal here too. These rules add what Cosmose expects on top of the law, so that everyone can come here without fear.

Rule R1Adults only

Entering Cosmose is declaring that you are eighteen or older. That declaration binds you. Sharing or viewing a photo or a video, broadcasting or watching a live also require an age verification by a third party, AgeVerif, which passes neither your identity nor your documents to Cosmose.

  • An account that turns out to belong to a minor is closed, and what it published is removed.
  • An adult who lets a minor use their account answers for it, and the account is closed.
  • If you think someone is a minor, report them with the reason “Minor or person in danger”: these reports are handled first.

Rule R2No sexual content involving a minor

Any image, video, description or proposal of a sexual nature involving a minor, real or simulated, is forbidden without exception. So is any attempt to approach a minor on Cosmose or to obtain such content from them.

  • Cosmose removes the content, puts it out of everyone’s reach, keeps it as evidence and closes the account.
  • Cosmose reports the facts to the competent authorities in the cases provided for by law.
  • There is neither a prior warning nor a second warning.

Rule R4No harassment, threats or intimidation

Disagreements and refusals are part of life; harassment is not. Forbidden: repeated insults, threats, intimidation, running a person down in front of others, insistent messages to someone who said no, and creating another account to contact a person who blocked you.

Blocking is always possible, without justification, and the blocked person is not told. A block is not a report: if what you went through falls under these rules, report it too.

Rule R5No hate, no violence

Forbidden are words, images or pseudonyms that attack a person or a group because of their origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age or appearance. Also forbidden: glorifying or inciting violence, terrorism or crimes against humanity, and gratuitously violent content.

Saying what you are or are not looking for yourself is not forbidden. Humiliating those you are not looking for is.

Rule R6Other people’s privacy

What someone confides to you on Cosmose stays on Cosmose. Forbidden:

  • publishing or passing on a person’s personal data without their agreement: name, address, employer, phone number, accounts on other services, photos that identify them;
  • capturing and spreading a private conversation, a revealed photo or a live;
  • trying to locate or identify a person against their will.

Cosmose never shows your position: only the town you chose and a distance in whole kilometres.

Rule R7One person, one identity

You do not have to give your name. You may not, however, pass yourself off as someone else, nor multiply accounts to get around a decision.

  • no impersonation, of a real person or of the Cosmose team;
  • no multiple accounts to get around a block, a restriction, a suspension or a closure;
  • no disposable e-mail address to open an account;
  • no bots, scripts or automation to enter, read or write in your place.

Photos and videos cannot be uploaded from an anonymisation network such as Tor; reading remains possible.

Rule R8No commerce, no scams

Cosmose is not a place for selling or promoting. Forbidden:

  • prostitution, procuring and any solicitation or offer against payment;
  • advertising, affiliate links and links to paid services, including your own paid content elsewhere;
  • scams, phishing, requests for money, fake investments;
  • selling or seeking illegal goods or services.

“Around me” posts are for offering an event, an opportunity, an item or a search between private individuals, within these rules.

Rule R9Illegal and dangerous content

Any content or behaviour contrary to the law is forbidden, in particular: selling or promoting drugs or weapons, inciting suicide or self-harm, glorifying terrorism, human trafficking, counterfeiting, and any infringement of other people’s rights.

Cosmose informs the competent authorities of illegal content reported to it where the law requires, and answers requests from the authorities within the framework provided by law.

Rule R10No spam, no nuisance

Forbidden: messages sent in bulk or pasted to many people, repeated posts or comments, hijacking a room away from its topic, and any practice that degrades other people’s experience.

Technical limits (messages per minute, active posts, reports per hour) exist for everyone; trying to get around them falls under this rule.

Rule R11Photos, videos and lives

You only upload content you are entitled to use and that respects the previous rules. In particular:

  • no content whose rights you do not hold, or without the agreement of the people in it;
  • no nudity or sexual content on a profile photo or in an “Around me” post, which everyone can see;
  • in a live: the camera shows a person who verified their age, not a screen, not a replayed video, not someone else.

Every photo and video uploaded is compared, before any publication, against the fingerprints of already known child sexual abuse material kept by Shield, a service of the Canadian Centre for Child Protection (Project Arachnid). Recognised content is never published: it is quarantined, kept as evidence, and a case is opened. Published content is checked again as that database grows. Lives are not recorded.

Rule R12Honest use of the tools

Reporting, blocking, contesting a decision and writing to the team exist to protect people. Forbidden:

  • manifestly unfounded or repeated reports against a person to harm them;
  • false accusations meant to get content removed or an account closed;
  • getting around a restriction, a suspension or a closure;
  • exploiting a flaw, a bug or a defect of Cosmose; if you find one, write to us.

What happens when the line is crossed

Every report is examined by a person on the moderation team, in order of severity, then of age. Depending on the severity of the facts, their repetition and the context, the measure can be:

  1. a warning;
  2. removal of the content (message, photo, post, comment, room);
  3. a restriction: no more messages, no more photos or videos, no more lives, for a set period or until further notice;
  4. the end of a live, or the disabling of a room;
  5. a suspension of the account, up to one year, with, where relevant, the obligation to verify one’s age again;
  6. permanent closure of the account, possibly with the removal of everything it published;
  7. a report to the competent authorities where the law requires it.

The most serious facts (R2, R3, R5, R9) can lead straight to the closure of the account, without warning. The necessary evidence is kept for the duration of the procedure. A suspended or closed account loses its sessions at once, and any attempt to come back with another account falls under rule R7.

You are told, and you can contest

Every decision about you is notified to you: in the app, and by e-mail if your account has an address. The notice says what was decided, for how long, about which content, under which rule or legal provision, on which facts, whether an automated tool played a part, and how to contest.

You can contest each decision once, within one hundred and eighty days, from the notice or from the link received by e-mail. Another person on the team re-examines the file and answers you. The decision is upheld or reversed; in the latter case, the content comes back or the sanction is lifted. This appeal takes nothing away from your other remedies: you can always go to court. If you reported content, you are told of the outcome once the case is closed.

Report, block, hide

  • Report a profile, a message, a photo, a video, a room, a post, a comment or a live: from the “…” menu of the item. Reports are confidential; the reported person does not know who reported them. Without an account, you can report content from that page.
  • Block a person: from their card. You disappear for each other, everywhere, at once, and you can unblock whenever you want.
  • Hide a post or a comment: for you only, for the duration of your visit.
